Rising Stars Music Showcase is a multi-musician, multi-genre music competition in which artists will be competing for prizes donated by the community while helping to raise funds for multiple Non-Profit Organizations.
The 8th annual Rising Stars Music Showcase will be taking place September 17th, 2016 at the Alex R. Thomas Plaza in Ukiah. Over 20 musical acts will come together on one stage in a combined effort to raise funds for local non-profit organizations and raise awareness of the area's musical talent.
This year we are pairing up with Ukiah Main Street Program for their End of Summer' Show-N-Shine Classic & Custom Car Show! This will not only bring out the music lovers but the car lovers too! Rising Stars will be taking place in the plaza and the car show will be on historic School Street. We think it is an awesome pairing and an opportunity to present the best music and steel that Mendocino County has to offer!
The show begins at 10 AM and awards are presented at 10 PM. The community is encouraged to attend to support local music and local non-profits. This is a no-charge all ages show. Various food and beverage vendors will be on hand at this family-friendly event to keep the party going all day long.
The format is pretty simple. Each musical act is placed in a category with other similar acts. Each act has a limited amount of time to setup, perform and tear down. The backline equipment is provided, so setup is streamlined and each act uses the same basic equipment.
This competition presents artists in the area with a means to perform for the public, exposes the public to a lot of the very talented musicians in the area, gives everyone an exciting fun-filled event and supports the community.
Since its inception this event has raised over $20,000. The music is always awesome and everyone has a great time!
